Her heart was beating, slowly crawling from her chest, up her throat and
into her mouth threatening to fall out.
Fall out and shatter into a
million pieces on the grimy subway floor. It's been the first time in years
she thought.
Clutching her soft pink handbag, she contemplates fixing
her makeup, frankly, she felt like bawling. She couldn't identify with
her emotions anymore then she could her own countenance, wouldn't
identify with them at all. She looked over to the window placed right as
she reviewed her reflection, wanting to claw it out of prospect. She
calms herself, she waits. A stop. Then another. Then another. And
another. Until the stop was hers. Bracing herself, she rose with wobbly
limbs listening to nothing but the throbbing of her chest now infecting
her whole body. She hid it well. Walking past the subway train's
threshold, almost in slow motion. Her head was swimming. Swimming in the
murmurs, swimming with the countless fish in the city...In her trance
she felt alien and scrambled, unable to grasp reality. But then, his
face, all too recognizable, a one like no others came about her placed
left..."Hello Leto."
